Day 5- Lauren

Day 5 started out with the group’s first subway experience in Rome! After exiting the subway, our first stop was San Clemente where we got to see a beautifu church and The Archaeological Excavations  which were uncovered because of Fr Joseph Mullooly. We then visited the Circus Maximus which is an ancient chariot-racing stadium. A few of us even raced each other so now we can say we raced in the Circus Maximus! We then proceeded to a Christmas market where we shopped and got lunch. Many people got lots of different types of pizza. I got a salmon, arugula, avocado, and lime wrap with fresh squeezed orange juice, which was incredible!! A group then walked to the baths of Caracalla which was unbelievably large in person. Many of the floors were still in tact and showcased beautiful stones with different patterns. We stopped by the mouth of truth and stuck our hands in for photo op just like Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck! Luckily none of us got our hands snapped off. We then entered the church of Pope Adrian and were able to enter his crypt. Finally, we went back to the hotel for dinner and debrief time! My favorite part of the day was seeing the magnitude of the Baths of Caracalla and picturing how ornate they must have been. -Lauren
