Today was mostly spent in the long journey from Rome to Florence. The train was not the issue. Rather, a bus strike meant most of us had to make the 45 minute trek to Termini station, somehow covering what felt like ten hills on the way. Rome is a very pretty city of course but it can be very difficult to appreciate that when you are huffing and puffing through the Eternal City trying to get to a train on time. The train itself was quite nice. From it, we were able to see the beautiful Tuscan countryside. When we reached Florence, we were free to wander the city. Sadly, the only major ancient Roman ruin in the city was closed since COVID, which I honestly did not know was still an excuse people used. Poe, however, saw a Ferris wheel in the distance and led us bravely onwards. Afterwards we had a nice (and long) dinner where we were all able to enjoy each others company.
