Tomb of Galileo
Basilica of Santa Croce
Gelato at Perche no
Today we rode the train from Rome to Florence and spent the afternoon exploring. We visited the Basilica of Santa Croce which was much larger than anticipated and very intricate on the outside as well as inside. The color and detail on the outside is what makes it stand out from many of the basilica’s in Rome. This church held many rounds around the floor as well as along the wall. The most famous of these tombs were Galileo and Michael Angelo. We got gelato at Perche no and we all agreed that it was the best gelato yet! I had Rose and Lavender, but they had a large assortment of flavors to choose from. We also visited the river and took the time to admire the colorful house and bridges that cross over it. Florence is much smaller than Rome, so it has been interesting to notice the small differences in culture here. Florence has so much character and I can’t wait to explore it more tomorrow!
