Today was a busy day in Florence! Since we were only here for about 24 hours, everyone was able to pick what they wanted to do. My group woke up early and visited the Duomo, where we climbed 463 steps to reach the top. The steps were very steep, but the view was worth it! We then wandered around the city for a bit, taking in the sights and doing some shopping. Next, we visited the Academia Gallery. The highlight of this visit was seeing Michelangelo’s David. It was massive and very impressive. We then did some more shopping and wandering until our new favorite gelato shop opened for the day. Our group loved this place so much that we went both days in Florence! For lunch, we visited a mercato that had a food court. People got pork sandwiches, pizza, burgers, and more. It was very chaotic and busy, but a good and yummy experience. After this, a few of us finished up some last minute Florence souvenir shopping before heading to get our backpacks from the hotel and get to the train station. We are all so sad that tomorrow is our last day!
