The Villa and Adventure:
On Day 3, the class visited so many incredible spots in Rome! The day started with a choose-your-own-adventure morning. Viewing the St Ivo Church, heading to the Vatican to see the pope, or exploring the Piazza de Popolo were some of the wonderful locations the class had access to. I decided to visit the Vatican. Therefore, a group of us headed out early at to celebrate mass and witness the pope. It was a fantastic experience! St Peters Basilica was truly other-worldly as well; absolutely magnificent and luxurious! Seeing the pope was also such a treat, especially being able to obtain a blessing from him. Afterward, the class met back up at the Palaza de Popolo to grab some lunch from the grocery store and have a picnic at the Villa Borghese gardens. These gardens were enormous and fully of beauty and life. We had lunch there, and then walked over to the Galleria Borghese. The Galleria was a dream come true. We had the pleasure to admire so many timeless pieces, especially original works by Caravaggio, Bernini, and Titian. My three favorites were the three classic sculptors by Bernini. The action and life brought out through the marble is astounding! After the Galleria, the class was set free to roam about Rome, and it was a lovely evening of experiencing the city. We finished the day with dinner at Casa Valdese. A lovely finish to a lovely Day three.
